Bioagra’s aerial calendar for 2025

A unique wall calendar was created from the photographs of the Goświnowice Ethanol Production Plant (ZPE) and examples of Bioagra’s activities aimed at the local community, collected over several years. See what it looks like and learn about its history.

Photos mainly from a drone

Most of the photos were taken with a drone by Maciej Zych, a well-known photographer from Nysa. The photos were taken in various situations, when documenting changes in the ZPE infrastructure or when taking photos of occasional illuminations on the wall of one of the plant’s buildings.

The creator of the calendar, who has been taking photos using drones since 2014, emphasizes that his work stems from his passion for photography and modern technology. Thanks to this and his exceptional patience, a calendar was created from photos taken mostly with a drone.

– Each photo is the result of observation, waiting for the right conditions and intuition – says Maciej Zych. – Weather and light decide when it is worth taking the drone for a flight and capturing the perfect frame.

ifficult beginnings

As Maciej Zych explains, the first drones had nothing in common with today’s integrated devices. At first, he used a camera mounted on a drone that automatically took photos every half a second. Each change of camera angle required landing and manual adjustment. Today, the equipment is much more advanced. The drones that the photographer uses allow for precise camera settings during flight and the ability to work in changing weather conditions.

– Fog, wind, frost or rain can make it difficult or impossible to take a photos with a drone – says Maciej Zych. – Despite this, there are exceptional moments that make all the effort worthwhile, like capturing a herd of deer in the middle of winter.

Behind the scenes of taking photos

The photos that made it into the calendar are mostly landscapes and scenes captured from a perspective that is inaccessible to traditional photography. One intriguing photo shows a herd of deer that froze at the sound of a drone’s propellers, trying to identify the source of the sound.

– Today, thanks to quieter and smaller drones with so-called electronic zoom, you can take photos from a greater distance, without attracting the attention of the animals. But in this case, without arousing the interest of the deer, there would be no shot of the curious deer – adds the author.

Drone expands possibilities

The photographer treats the drone as a photographic tool that expands the possibilities of creation.

– It is a camera, but with the ability to move in space. Sometimes it hangs only a few meters above the ground to take the perfect shot, and sometimes it flies a 100 metres above ground level – explains Maciej Zych.

The Bioagra calendar was published in a limited edition of 300 copies and was given to the company’s employees and friends. The twelve photos in the calendar were taken by Maciej Zych (Neon Photography), and one by Piotr Marchwiński (Volleyball Photography).
