Bioagra on the Nysa Run
Bioagra helped organize another edition of the Nysa Run. Traditionally, we have prepared a handy ecological bag for runners for water and energy-boosting food products. The runners were also cheered by Mr. Corn – the mascot of Bioagra.
This year’s edition of the Nysa Run, the first one after a pandemic break, was exceptional. This time the participants ran along the crown of Lake Nysa. Many runners liked the new, extremely picturesque route. They ask for it to be repeated in the next season.
Epidemiological conditions allowed only for the individual start of the competitors. This stretched the event for hours and slightly changed the nature of the competition. In this year’s race, everyone had to fight their own limitations in order to complete the route in the best possible time.
However, the first places were taken by the Poles. Sebastian Leśniak from Runners Team Nysa triumphed among men with a time of 34:41. Among the women, Joanna Griman (38:29) finished with the best time.
Congratulations to all the runners who took part in the Nysa Run.

Bioagra – another large planting of trees and shrubs
Bioagra started another plantings around the “Goświnowice” Ethanol Production Plant. This spring alone, the company intends to plant approx. 850 ornamental shrubs and avenue trees. This is a scale that can be compared to year-round plantings in the city of Rzeszów with a population of nearly 200,000.
Trees and shrubs are meant to be a barrier to the sound and smells generated in the production of ethanol, but also to diversify the area in terms of color and introduce biodiversity. Additionally, the plants will be beneficial for the bees. They will allow insects to collect pollen and honey dew in the form of drops, for example on the leaves of some deciduous trees.
In the first row, closest to the beltway, evergreen conifers (Brabant thuja and Alumia cypress) are planted, which in winter and summer maintain a uniform green and silvery coat. In the second line, there will be a variety of avenue trees that shed their leaves in winter. Native trees such as sycamore maple, maple, hornbeam and common beech, cherry plum, wart birch and rowan were selected for planting.
When planting, the colors in summer and winter, the shape of the tree crown, growth rate, resistance to weather conditions and pests, and the role in the ecosystem are taken into account. Several-year-old plants, up to several meters high, are invariably planted and will grow rapidly in the following years.
The intensive planting of trees, which the company has been carrying out since 2018, has already cost several hundred thousand zlotys without ongoing maintenance, i.e. watering and protection.

Easter egg from Mr. Corn
The custom of painting eggs was known during the Roman Empire. In Poland, the oldest discovered Easter egg is from the end of the 10th century and was found in the Opole region, in the remains of a stronghold on the Opole island of Ostrówek.
Easter is one of the oldest Christian holidays. It was mentioned in nearly 1000 years old German chronicles. In Poland, it is associated with the making of ornaments in the form of Easter eggs and wet monday, also known as a dyngus
Many unusual customs that accompany Easter have been developed in European countries.
In Norway, it is a tradition to … read “Easter thrillers”. The custom was created about 100 years ago in connection with the advertisement of the book, placed before Easter. The ad said, “A train from Bergen was robbed last night.” It was also the title of the novel. Many readers felt that this was an account of a real event. The book became a bestseller. Since then, the Norwegians have been waiting for exciting new mysteries before each Easter.
In Greece, on the island of Corfu, Christmas Saturday begins with the “pot throw”. People throw pots, pans and other pottery from the windows, smashing them in the street.
In Florence, Italy, the archbishop fires a dove-shaped rocket that symbolizes the Holy Spirit. This begins a spectacular fireworks display.
For Finnish children, it’s a Halloween repeat. The little ones dress up as witches. They knock on the door of their neighbors, wishing you a healthy and happy year. In return, they expect chocolate, coins or Easter eggs.

From Mr. Corn to all ladies
Bioagra prepared an occasional illumination for the upcoming Women’s Day. Through Mr. Corn – its official mascot – the company wishes all the best to all ladies. On the other hand, they remind busy men that this is a holiday that they should definitely celebrate.
As early as next Monday ladies will celebrate their holiday. Women’s Day was first celebrated on February 28, 1909 in the United States. A year later the Socialist International in Copenhagen established International Women’s Day. It was supposed to promote the idea of women’s rights and build social support for universal suffrage for women.
In Poland, the holiday became popular in the times of the People’s Republic of Poland, but the custom of honoring ladies did not become obsolete with the bygone era. Women’s Day is no longer associated with forced celebration and empty gestures. It has become a much less formal opportunity to express warm and positive emotions towards women.
The occasional illumination of Bioagra is an expression of respect for all ladies and a signal to forgetful men that it’s time to think about a nice gesture or gift on the occasion of Women’s Day.

Mr. Corn lights up Valentine’s Day
The company mascot of Bioagra reminds about the upcoming festival of lovers. Valentine’s Day, falling on February 14 each year, is one of the most optimistic days of the year.
According to Wikipedia, Valentine’s Day has been celebrated in southern and western Europe since the Middle Ages. In the North and East of the continent it became a widespread habit much later. In Poland, Valentine’s Day celebrations gained popularity in the 1990s.
Valentine’s Day illumination and Mr. Corn, encourage you to look at the world in brighter colors. Despite the ongoing pandemic, it is worthwhile, and even necessary, to look for positive sides in life.
People who have a positive attitude to life are two times more likely to have healthier hearts than their peers who are pessimistic. They have better sugar and cholesterol scores and attach more importance to physical activity. They also recover faster from an illness.
Martin Seligman, American psychologist and the founder of positive psychology, claims that healthy optimism is expressed by looking for solutions, advantages and opportunities in every life situation. It takes some effort and training, but it does mean you can learn to be optimistic.

Mr Corn waves in the newest illumination
Mr. Kukurydza waves from the next New Year’s illumination of Bioagra and wishes “Health!” in 2021. It was in the field of health, and on a large scale, that the company carried out several spectacular campaigns last year.
The pandemic met Bioagra at a key point in the largest investment since the establishment of the “Goświnowice” Ethanol Production Plant. Despite this, the company started producing hand sanitizer that it did not make on a daily basis before. A point where the inhabitants of Nysa could buy it at the production price was also set up. It is worth remembering that agents of this type were extremely difficult to obtain at the beginning of the pandemic.
– We managed to deliver disinfectant liquid when it was needed the most, despite the shortages on the market, for example in fragrances or packaging, significantly disturbed the production, says Mirosław Obarski from Bioagra SA.
In addition to the above-mentioned action, the company provided several tens of thousands of liters of liquid for disinfecting surfaces and hands to the local government of Nysa, the Nysa infectious disease hospital, fire brigade or church institutions – all free of charge. Liquids were also given to nurseries and kindergartens after the institutions were reopened and before the school year. When schools were affected by COVID-19, the company supplied disinfectants to dozens of educational institutions in the district. In total, almost 10 000 children and teenagers study and nearly 1 300 people work there.
Locally, the company also carried out other diverse activities, for example, it planted more trees around the “Goświnowice” Ethanol Production Plant. In 2020, more of them were planted there than in the entire city of Rzeszów, which is an agglomeration with a population of nearly 200 000. A queen bee breeding program was also carried out in Bioagra. New queens took off for the mating flight from several dozen so-called brading boxes. Bioagra also provided the Nysa fire brigade with a specialized extinguishing agent known as a Formula 1 car in its field, free of charge. It is used to extinguish solids and liquids such as gasoline, crude oil, alcohol and even jet fuels.
