Nomination for the Tryton Nyski award

Arkadiusz Komorowski was nominated for the Tryton Nyski honorary distinction in this year’s 22nd edition of this prestigious competition. The director of ZPE “Goświnowice” was nominated as the originator of revitalization of the Old Mill in Nysa and a unique program for reducing sound and smell generated in the production of ethanol.

The Tryton Nyski honorary distinction is an expression of the highest recognition of the local community and is awarded to persons, organizations and institutions particularly distinguished for the Nysa commune.

– All my adult professional life is related to Nysa and this region – said Arkadiusz Komorowski during the awarding gala. – We are proud that we can develop the plant in a sustainable way – taking care of environmental protection and in harmony with the local community. We are increasing production, increasing the number of jobs in the plant and its surroundings in many market segments – added Arkadiusz Komorowski.

Bioagra has already invested nearly PLN 20,000,000 in sound and smell reduction. As a result of these and subsequent activities, the company will soon become one of the most ecological plants at the European level and will produce completely new products.

Arkadiusz Komorowski is also the originator of the revitalization of the Old Mill in Nysa, a building that has not been used for years. The investment will be completed in 2021. The building will combine office, recreational and residential functions – there will be service and catering premises on the ground floor , a conference room, and apartments on the upper floors.

After revitalization, the main attraction of this place will be a fountain symbolically reproducing the course of the river driving the mill wheel. It will stand on the town square in front of the Old Mill. A parking lot for nearly fifty spaces has been planned next to it, which will be available to the residents of Nysa.

Super foam from Bioagra

Bioagra transferred a specialized extinguishing agent worth about PLN 50,000 to Nysa fire brigade. It is a Formula 1 car in its field – indicates the company. It is used to extinguish solids and liquids, e.g. gasoline, petroleum, alcohol, and even jet fuel.

The extinguishing agent passed by Bioagra is highly specialized. It is used to produce an aqueous solution from which various types of foam can be obtained. It will last for plenty extinguishing actions.

– The agent should be enough for a long time, because it is most often used to extinguish small fires – says Marcin Skalny, junior foreman from KP PSP in Nysa. – Last year, such fires accounted for 93% of all fires in our county. – The extinguishing agent can be successfully used for various types of extinguishing operations, including protection of spilled flammable liquids, e.g. car fuels in actions on roads or railways.

The agent provided by Bioagra is widely used. It can be used simultaneously with extinguishing powder mixed with foam and other extinguishing foams. Due to its unique properties, it is very useful when extinguishing liquid fires, which destroy extinguishing foam produced from other universal foaming agents. It can be used to make foam in combination with tap water, industrial water and even sea water.

Mr. Corn shines and heats

For several days now, drivers on Nysa’s bypass can admire the New Year’s illumination of Bioagra. In the building from which Mr. Corn is waving to us, the so-called cogeneration is in operation. This is a very efficient and ecological way of generating electricity and heat.

Last year, a ten storey-tall Mr. Corn ran around the grain elevator tower. This year, it appeared on a cogeneration building, in which electricity and useful heat are generated for the needs of the plant.

Cogeneration is an extremely economical and ecological way of generating energy. In a classic solution, electricity and heat are generated separately at the power plant and heating plant. Cogeneration involves producing both of these types of energy in the same process. This allows you to achieve 30% higher efficiency. This translates into significant economic and environmental benefits.

The “Goświnowice” Ethanol Plant is in many respects one of the most ecological and modern industrial complexes in Poland. In the case of cogeneration, Bioagra paves the way in a direction that the European Commission strongly promotes. In the first half of 2019, it approved public aid in the amount of 5 billion euros. It will be intended to develop electricity production in cogeneration.

Order – PASZA PRO project

Research on the hygienization of dry components in the form of non-normative maize fraction.

Purpose of the order

The purpose of the order is for the Purchaser to collect: 1) Information such as ozone concentration in the air stream, flow rate and dosing time affect the microbiological purity of the material 2) Information on potential problems with ozone administration after moving to the demonstration scale

Object of the contract

he following works are planned under the contract: a) Microbiological analysis of the material (non-standard fraction of maize) and statistical analysis of the distribution of results; b) Laboratory tests of material ozonation for: varying material humidity, different concentrations of ozone generated, different ozone-containing air flow rates and different times of the hygienization process; c) Analysis of ozone concentrations in the process area in terms of effectiveness of hygienization and at the exit from the process in terms of service safety at scale enlargement

Another element of the odor reduction system is operating

Bioagra launched the so-called catalytic oxidation at the “Goświnowice” Ethanol Plant – it is another element of the fermentation odor reduction system. The company also carried out research showing that the first device included in this system works very effectively.

Recently, Bioagra SA has invested as much as PLN 19 620 000 in reducing odor and excessive sound. In the middle of the year, the company set up an ethanol absorber. This is the first part of the odor reduction system created during the fermentation process, designed by American and Polish specialists.

Recently, the company launched the second part of the system, the so-called catalytic oxidation, which is based on high power electric heaters. Both devices are already permanently included in the technological process. They were immediately adjusted to the target volume of ethanol production, which the plant will achieve next year, after the ongoing investment process.

After starting the absorber, the first element of the system, the company carried out laboratory tests that showed that the 20-fold device reduced the amount of ethanol escaping from the fermentation vats. He was responsible for transferring the characteristic smell felt around the plant depending on weather conditions.

Catalytic oxidation – a device that reduces the smell of:

In August this year an additional olfactometric study of the fragrance environment was conducted, with the participation of the so-called nose-man (people with an extremely sensitive sense of smell). They showed that starting the absorber reduced the perception of the fermentation smell to several hundred meters around the company.

– The first of a series of planned devices has already significantly reduced the odor from the fermentation process, which has been confirmed by various studies – says Mirosław Obarski, the company’s spokesman. – We have recently launched another element of the system, the catalytic oxidation. We hope for further reduction of the smell. We are now working on the best possible integration of new devices with the ethanol production plant.

The company is also planning further olfactometric tests of the fragrance environment. It was agreed with the local community that representatives of villages adjacent to the Ethanol Plant would participate in them. Bioagra SA wants to be sure that the devices, in which the company has invested huge resources, work with the highest efficiency.

Bioagra SA has been running a program to reduce its impact on the environment since 2018. The company has implemented such measures despite the fact that it produces ethanol in accordance with the standards in force in both Poland and the European Union. The company’s management has guaranteed the local community that it will commission the development and implementation of solutions that will permanently reduce the intensity of smell and sound generated in the production of ethanol.

Conceptual work is underway on the third element of the odor reduction system, which at the same time will replace approximately 80% of carbon dioxide generated in the fermentation process with new products. The implementation is initially planned for 2021. Bioagra SA will then become one of the greenest enterprises in Europe.
